EUGENE, Ore — A new state funded organization is offering free Alzheimer’s classes.
Oregon Care Partners is now helping professionals, caregivers and families by providing access to training both on-line and in person.
The Alzheimer’s Assocation estimates 16 million Americans will have the disease by 2050. In Oregon, it’s estimated that nearly 60,000 individuals are living with Alzheimer’s. Many families are now becoming caregivers.
Oregon Care Partners wants to ensure they have the assistance they need to help them understand the challenges of this disease.
“Often times families will receive a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and not be given any support or what that means or how to care for someone with Alzheimer’s,” said Stephanie Barnett-Herro, spokesperson for Oregon Care Partners.

Oregon Care Partners is funded by the state of Oregon and was established in 2014. So far, more than a thousand people have signed up to receive free training. Funding continues through June 30, 2015.
