Oregon Care Partners is bringing back internationally recognized dementia care specialist Teepa Snow for the 2024 Teepa Snow Dementia Care Conference at the Salem Convention Center on June 18. Teepa Snow, the founder of Positive Approach to Care® and the Snow Approach Foundation®, presents with her exceptional expertise and humor, helping family care partners and care professionals respond to challenging situations in dementia care with compassion and understanding. The conference is free to attend and open to anyone living or working in Oregon. Registration is required.

Teepa Snow is one of the world’s leading advocates and educators for anyone living with dementia or other forms of brain change.
Teepa is an Occupational Therapist with over forty years of rich and varied clinical and academic experience. Her philosophy is reflective of her education, work experience, medical research, and first-hand caregiving experiences. Her advocacy efforts led her to develop the Positive Approach to Care® strategies, which are effective techniques for anyone seeking to optimize care and support for those living with brain change.
Teepa presents with extraordinary expertise and humor to audiences large and small throughout the world. Teepa’s mission is to improve the culture of dementia care, one mind at a time.

Navigating Challenging Behaviors: Positive Approaches® to Surprising and Stressful Situations in Dementia Care
As a dementia care partner, have you ever felt overwhelmed by unexpected behaviors? The 2024 Teepa Snow Dementia Conference will offer insights into dementia-related behaviors to deepen understanding and connection with individuals when challenging moments arise. This exceptional, one-day training event features internationally recognized dementia care expert Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA, Founder of Positive Approach to Care® and the Snow Approach Foundation®. The event will focus on helping care partners utilize Positive Approach to Care® strategies to respond with compassion and understanding in surprising and challenging situations. Encountering unexpected behaviors can be overwhelming and stressful. This event aims to equip family members and care professionals with the knowledge and skills to effectively navigate challenging situations while prioritizing the safety and well-being of the individual with dementia and the care partner.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand dementia-related behaviors and variables that can affect behavior in a person living with dementia.
- Explore the principles of Positive Approach to Care® and how they can be applied to foster a supportive and engaging environment for individuals with dementia.
- Learn Positive Approach to Care® strategies and techniques to respond effectively to unexpected, stressful situations.
- Receive guidance on integrating PAC strategies into daily care routines to promote positive interactions and minimize conflicts.
- Practice person-centered care strategies to preserve the dignity and independence of individuals with dementia.
