This course teaches positive behavior support strategies for developmentally disabled individuals experiencing behavioral challenges. The goal of positive behavior support is to prevent a behavior from happening. In this course you will learn the cycle behind all behaviors, effective communication strategies to use when someone is expressing an adverse behavior and methods to appropriately intervene.

Upon completion of this online activity, you will be able to:

  • Reframe behavior as communication
  • Understand the four-stage cycle behind all behaviors
  • Learn to recognize and respond to unmet needs that may lead to adverse behaviors
  • Understand the behavioral components of care for developmentally disabled individuals
